CTOnews.com August 21 news, Loto Technology (RUNTO) today released China's XR market summary and outlook for the first half of 2023-products, analyzing the current situation and trend of XR market development.

▲ Picture Source Sony's official website CTOnews.com learned from Loto Technology data that omni-channel sales of consumer-grade XR devices (including AR and VR) in China in the first half of 2023 were 382000, down 38.6 percent from the same period last year. Among them, sales in the online open retail market (excluding content e-commerce such as Doukuai) were 138000, accounting for 36% of the total channel, down 40.2% from the same period last year; sales were 430 million yuan, down 36.5% from the same period last year.

Loto Technology Analysis said the poor performance of the overall XR market was mainly dragged down by VR products. According to Loto Technology online monitoring data, online sales of VR devices in the first half of the year were 97000, down 56% from the same period last year, while AR devices were in the stage of rapid growth, with sales of 41000 units in the first half, a 3.4-fold increase over the same period last year.

▲ Tupu Technology official account at the product level, Loto Technology said that "Fast LCD technology has both effectiveness and cost performance, and has become the first choice of most VR devices." Among the released products, Meta Quest 2, Sony PlayStation VR, NOLO Sonic, PICO G24K, Pimax5K Plus, Skyworth VR and so on all use this technology.

But in the AR market, Micro OLED overtook Fast LCD this year. Micro OLED's share of the AR online market reached 94.0 per cent in the first half of 2023, compared with 43 per cent in the first half of last year.

In addition, in the optical scheme, Pancake and Birdbath are standard VR / AR products, while eye movement tracking and inside-out technology are also accelerating penetration. In the first half of 2023, the market share of Pancake optical solutions in the VR online market reached 78%. The penetration rate of AR optical solutions in the AR online market reached 94%.
