CTOnews.com, Aug. 20: Musk is the most popular user on the X platform (formerly Twitter). As of CTOnews.com 's post, his account @ ElonMusk has more than 153 million followers. But how many of these fans are real users, how many are active users, and how many are paid subscribers to X Premium (formerly known as Twitter Blue)? The website Mashable analyzed Musk's fans based on data collected by third-party researcher Travis Brown.

According to the data, Musk's fans have the following characteristics:

Inactive or false: about 42 per cent of fans (more than 65.3 million) do not have any fans; about 72 per cent (nearly 112 million) have less than 10 followers; more than 6250 million fans have not posted any tweets; more than 100 million fans have sent less than 10 tweets; about 25 per cent of fans (more than 38.9 million) use the default avatar provided by the X platform. More than 40% of fans (nearly 50 million) include four or more numbers in their @ user names.

New registration: Musk completed his acquisition of Twitter on October 27, 2022. Of all the users who currently follow him, more than 25 per cent (38.9 million) are registered after that date.

No pay: Musk often promotes X Premium on his account, a $8-a-month subscription service that offers advanced features and benefits. Many users think that subscribing to X Premium is a support for Musk himself. However, according to the data, only about 453000 (0.3 per cent) of fans subscribe to X Premium.

In addition, the total number of users followed by more than 4380 Musk fans through their X accounts is less than 10. When collecting data, about 13.5 million users follow only one account @ ElonMusk.

Musk recently claimed that platform X now has more than 540 million "monthly active users". But the figures suggest that many of Musk's fans are likely to be fake accounts, which seems to mean that the overall user base of the platform is also less active.
