In iOS 17 Beta 1, this feature is still under development and "lacks some necessary data".

It is said that the map of iOS 17 will first prompt electric car owners to set up their preferred charging network, with options including Electrify America, Chargepoint, Tesla super charging network and so on. After the charging network is selected, the map App can provide users with real-time charging availability information, including the total number of available parking spaces and the number of parking spaces occupied at a specific charging station.

At the WWDC 2020 conference three years ago, Apple announced the provision of an "electric vehicle routing system" for electric vehicles. The feature was not available for Ford Mustang Mach-E models until nearly two years later. CTOnews.com previously reported that after enabling this feature on the iPhone connected to the vehicle CarPlay, users can create new navigation routes and check the estimated remaining range of the vehicle on the phone at the end of the trip. In addition, Apple Map App also supports automatic addition of parking spots at electric vehicle charging stations along the way.

Then, earlier this year, the Porsche Taycan also received support for this feature. At present, the "real-time display of the availability of charging facilities" mentioned above is expected to apply only to models that support the "electric vehicle routing system".
