CTOnews.com, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) developer Ne ï l Rahmouni recently shared a screenshot showing that emergency SOS text messages and location messages can be sent in the Google Messages app on Android 14.

CTOnews.com has previously reported that Google's upcoming Android 14 operating system will natively support satellite communications.

The Android 14 feature is not limited to Pixel phones. Any phone with hardware features can communicate by satellite, but it may initially be limited to Google's own Pixel series and Samsung's Galaxy series.

Mishaal Rahman, another developer, said that Android 14 introduced a number of satellite communications API, but the relevant code is currently hidden, so third-party applications cannot be called.

By mining the code, Rahman said the satellite communications service supports sending SOS emergency text messages and sharing location information, and a "demo mode" was found in the code.
