Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, August 19, Western Digital (WD) recently suffered a class action lawsuit because of a problem with SanDisk's Extreme Pro solid-state drive. The lawsuit was initiated by Nathan Krum, a California resident, seeking $5 million in damages (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 36.5 million yuan).

The problem first broke out in May this year, when many consumers who bought SanDisk's Extreme mobile hard drive reported back on e-commerce platforms and social platforms, with all kinds of strange problems such as suddenly erasing data and being unable to read it.

Western Digital subsequently released a firmware update, which far from curbing the problem, more models were affected.

Krum said it bought 2TB's SanDisk Extreme Pro for $179.99 on May 19 this year, followed by data erasure problems.

Krum said he had to spend money to recover the data and did not accept the terms of a replacement or a full refund.
