The official said that "CNOOC 122" adopts a new type of cylindrical structure design, compared with the traditional ship structure, has the characteristics of less steel consumption, good overall stability, strong ability to resist adverse sea conditions, and effectively improve its economic applicability.

CCTV 4 official account to adapt to the harsh sea conditions, the hull adopts double bottom design, which is composed of 123sections, including 41 separate compartments with a total weight of 27000 tons. As the hull is all special-shaped segments, the center of gravity and installation of each segment restrict each other, the tolerance of the main dimension of the hull needs to be controlled within 25mm after closure, which poses a challenge to space planning, equipment and pipeline layout and precision control.

The next step of "CNOOC 122" will enter the final assembly integration stage, and when it is completed next year, it will serve in the Liuhua Oilfield in the Pearl River Estuary Basin, providing a new choice for the economic and efficient development of deepwater oil and gas fields in China.
