It is reported that "Zhimai" is an AI and brain simulation computing platform based on brain-like pulse neural network. Based on the principle of multi-scale bioplasticity, it supports full-pulse neural network modeling, and has brain-inspired AI model and brain function and structure simulation capability. At the same time, the platform will also provide basic support for exploring brain-like intelligence research for general AI, and will help explore the computational nature of natural intelligence and the development of a new generation of AI.

According to Zeng Yi, the corresponding author of the paper and the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,"Zhimai" aims to deeply explore how nature's wisdom is formed, and hopes to simulate and even surpass human advanced cognitive abilities: such as anthropomorphic conceptual learning, complex decision-making, cognitive and emotional empathy, and social intelligence such as morality and altruism.

It said that the team's long-term scientific vision is to study biological intelligence through computational modeling and develop brain-like AI with structure and mechanism and cognitive function, so as to finally realize harmonious coexistence between AI and human beings.
