SVB MoffettNathanson analyst Craig Moffet previously said that the pay TV industry is suffering from the "impoverishment cycle", that is, US cable TV ratings mainly rely on sports activities, while the rise in sports broadcasting fees has led to a rise in the operating costs of TV channels, forcing distributors to pass such costs on to users to make up for losses, but users do not buy it and use streaming media platforms instead. As a result, the total share of pay-per-view cable and radio in the audience has fallen sharply.
