Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
In the second half of the third quarter, there has been a steady stream of revelations about flagship mobile phone chips at the end of the year. Obviously, as the two heavyweight chips to be unveiled soon, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 and MediaTek Tianji 9300 have become the focus of Android ecology.
Tianji 9300 recently broke the news that it supports LPDDR5T memory. The transmission speed of 9.6Gbps is not only the fastest mobile DRAM in the world, but also performs well in low power consumption. This means that LPDDR5T can not only provide the fastest app loading speed, but also bring longer battery life for mobile phone users.
Previously, "Digital chat Station" revealed that MediaTek's next-generation flagship chip Tianji 9300 will adopt full-core CPU architecture, which is composed of 4 Cortex-X4 super-cores and 4 Cortex-A720 mega-cores, which can be called a "monster" chip!
The full-core CPU has strong performance, but the power consumption has been reduced a lot. Big V pointed out that compared with Tianji 9200, the power consumption of Tianji 9300 has been reduced by more than 50%, and MediaTek's CPU can be highlighted this year.
In addition, the Tianji 9300 confirms the latest generation of Arm Immortalis-G720 GPU, which introduces delayed vertex shading technology that can reduce memory access and bandwidth usage, thereby improving performance and reducing power consumption.
Qualcomm is also a frequent source of news. The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen3 adopts a conservative strategy on the CPU architecture, using a 1-5-2 architecture design, including 1 Cortex-X4 super-core, 5 Cortex-A720 large cores and 2 Cortex-A520 small cores. Compared with Snapdragon 8 Gen2, there was 1 more middle nucleus and 1 less small nucleus. Although Snapdragon does not use the radical all-core CPU architecture like Tianji, it is also increasing the number of large cores, which shows that more large cores do help to improve performance and reduce power consumption, which is undoubtedly the trend of the future.
Just recently, Snapdragon 8 Gen3 GeekBench 6 run streaming network, prototype model SM-S926U, suspected Samsung S24 CPU single core 2233 points, multi-core 6661 points. The performance is slightly improved compared with Snapdragon 8 Gen2, but I don't know what the actual experience will be.
In other aspects, the GPU routine of Snapdragon 8 Gen3 has been upgraded to Adreno 750. the whole system is still contracted by TSMC, and the process has been upgraded from N4 to N4P, while TSMC's N3E process will be adopted on Snapdragon 8 Gen4, which will be launched next year.
Speaking of Snapdragon 8 Gen4, according to the revelations from the digital chat station, Snapdragon 8 Gen4 adopts the Nuvia architecture developed by Qualcomm, including 2 Phoenix performance cores and 6 Phoenix M cores. But according to the latest news, Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will have three versions, namely, 12 core version, 10 core version and 8 core version. The biggest difference lies in the number of CPU cores. As Qualcomm's self-developed architecture does not have PPT reference like the Arm public domain architecture, the actual performance, power consumption and compatibility will not be known until next year when mobile phone manufacturers get streaming.
According to current revelations, Tianji 9300 will usher in a major change this year, with radical all-core CPU full performance and a 50% reduction in power consumption. Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chose a more "prudent" route this year because it will be changed to Nuvia architecture next year, and 8 Gen4 at the end of 2024 will be a major update for Qualcomm. Overall, flagship phones do need new technology at the high end of the market, and Android chips outperformed Apple A16 in graphics performance last year, making this year's new chips all the more anticipated.
