CTOnews.com August 16 news, Tesla recently launched a new Model S and Model X standard life version in the United States, with lower battery life and lower price. Now Tesla has confirmed that the battery capacity of these two models is limited by software.

The new Model S and Model X have a range of 320 miles and 269 miles, equivalent to 515km and 433km, respectively. This gives consumers the opportunity to buy Tesla cars at lower prices, with the new Model S starting at $78490 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 573000 yuan) and the new Model X starting at $88490 (currently about 646000 yuan).

Some speculate whether Tesla uses different battery chemicals, such as lithium iron phosphate batteries, to achieve this low-life version. But in fact, Tesla only through the software to limit the scope of use of the battery, did not change the battery material. This news has been confirmed by the staff of several exhibition halls of Tesla, and Tesla has no plans to provide upgrade services to unlock more mileage in the future.
