CTOnews.com August 16 news, source @ aaronp613 tweeted today to dig deeper into the macOS Sonoma update code and found that Apple has simplified the process of repairing and restoring Mac devices in DFU mode.

In macOS Sonoma and previous versions, users needed another Mac with Apple Configurator App installed if they wanted to repair or restore Mac devices.

In macOS Sonoma applications, Apple Configurator is no longer needed for repair or restore, and users can initialize the recovery process between Mac directly in the Finder application.

The repair and restore process experience with access is basically the same as using Apple Configurator, and the whole process does not require additional software support.

The two Mac devices still need to be connected through a USB-C cable, and the steps are exactly the same. CTOnews.com note: both Mac devices need to be installed and upgraded to the latest macOS Sonoma before they can be operated through Finder.

MacOS Sonoma is currently in Beta testing and is expected to wait another 1-2 months for its official launch.
