Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Daniel Wu in South China and Xiqiao for the delivery of clues about the past! CTOnews.com, August 15, according to the Taiwan media Economic Daily, MediaTek will pay first-half employee dividends at the end of August. According to its profit performance in the first half of the year, the total employee dividend is estimated to be about 2/3 of that in the second half of last year. Based on the estimated number of 14000 employees who can participate in the dividend, the average share is NT $535000 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 121000 yuan) It is about 34% discount on dividends in the second half of last year.

The employee dividend of MediaTek is linked to the company's profits to allocate about 20% of the pre-tax surplus. Each year is divided into the first half of the year and the second half of the year, the time point is February and August each year, the first half of the dividend in August of the same year, the second half of the dividend in February of the following year.

According to MediaTek's latest annual report, by the end of February this year, MediaTek had a total staff of nearly 22000. The company's employees are distributed at home and abroad, with an average length of service of 5.7 years. It is estimated that about 14000 employees will be able to participate in this first-half dividend.

MediaTek had a pre-tax surplus of NT $56.653 billion in the second half of last year, of which 20% was about NT $11.33 billion, while the pre-tax surplus in the first half of this year was NT $37.473 billion, with a dividend of nearly NT $7.5 billion, equivalent to 66.1% in the second half of last year.

Based on MediaTek's pre-tax surplus of NT $78.907 billion in the first half of last year and about NT $15.781 billion in employee dividends, the total dividend in the first half of this year is about 53% lower than that in the first half of last year.

MediaTek does not comment on the estimated amount of dividends because of the confidentiality of employees' salaries. Outsiders believe that since those who participate in employee dividends also include middle and senior executives of the company, just looking at the average amount of employee dividends, it is impossible to know exactly the amount allocated to individual employees, which involves variables such as department, grade, performance and so on.

Affected by the downturn in the semiconductor market, MediaTek's combined revenue in the first seven months of this year totaled NT $225.55 billion, an annual decrease of 33.5%. MediaTek estimates that revenue fell between NT $102.1 billion and NT $108.9 billion this quarter, an increase of about 4 to 11 per cent in the quarter.
