Now Tesla is also moving into the data center business.

Interestingly, this new move comes after Tesla took over some of Twitter's data centers. When Elon Musk took over Twitter, the company stopped paying a lot of bills, including some data center bills. Twitter stopped using its data center in Sacramento late last year. In discussing the Twitter data center issue, Musk said Sacramento was "probably the worst place to build a data center," especially for features like Twitter Spaces, where he complained specifically about the heat. However, just a few months ago The Information reported that Tesla had taken over an old data center leased to Twitter by NTT Data. The report also mentioned that Tesla is negotiating with Prime Data Centers to use another Sacramento data center that Twitter has used.

CTOnews.com notes that there have been media reports recently that Tesla has been banned from Hunan Yueyang Sanhe Airport because Tesla has a sentinel mode and there is a risk of leakage. Tesla responded by saying that the data on Tesla vehicles is currently stored offline only on USB devices in the car, and neither the owner nor Tesla can view it remotely online. Tesla also confirmed in its response that Tesla has established a data center in China to localize data storage. All data generated by vehicles sold in the the mainland of China market will be stored in China.
