CTOnews.com, August 14, according to the Science and Technology Daily, recently, the intelligent infrared defect identification system for transmission lines developed by State Grid Electric Power Space Technology Co., Ltd. in conjunction with North China Electric Power University has realized industrial application in the operation and maintenance of major UHV lines in China. This is the first time that artificial intelligence (AI) technology has been applied to transmission line heating detection on a large scale in China, which provides a new technical means to ensure the safe and stable operation of power grid.
According to CTOnews.com, transmission line heating detection is an important part of power system operation and maintenance, which can find the hidden dangers of line defects in time and prevent the occurrence of accidents such as line tripping and blackout. However, in the past, the process of using artificial intelligence to identify infrared image data is complicated, and it needs to identify the heating fault points in the picture, which is easy to be omitted by the experience and attention of maintenance personnel; in addition, the amount of infrared video data is huge, and the re-inspection work is extremely difficult and inefficient, which is easy to cause dangerous events such as insulator string dropping. By using the newly developed transmission line infrared defect intelligent identification system, only one button is needed to upload and patrol the infrared video to quickly draw frames and intelligently identify heating defects, which can assist line operation and maintenance units to eliminate the hidden danger of line tripping and power outage in time.
Combined with the business scene, the technical research team adopted the technical route of "minimizing tagging + ladder learning + interference point shielding" to realize the intelligent identification of hidden dangers of infrared defects, and the accuracy of model recognition was more than 90%.
According to reports, at present, the system is deployed and applied in the State Grid Power Space Technology Co., Ltd., which is the first time that artificial intelligence technology has been applied to the heating detection of transmission lines on a large scale in China. Take the infrared video of 240 base tower as an example, the traditional manual data review takes 5 hours, but now using this system, it only takes 2 hours from uploading the video to completing the analysis, and there is no need for human intervention in the process.
