Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com August 13, Microsoft earlier this week released August security updates for Windows 10 (KB5029244) and Windows 11 (KB5029263 / KB5029253) as well as Server systems, resolving Intel DirectX issues on older Windows 10.
CTOnews.com reminds you that you can also update the Intel GPU driver to 30.0.101.1190 or newer to solve this problem. Microsoft wrote in its support documentation:
After installing KB5019966 or later updates, you may encounter apphelp.dll errors on Windows devices that use the Intel graphics driver (versions 26.20.100.7463 to 30.0.101.1190). This problem can occur intermittently and affect a small number of enterprise applications that use DirectX or Direct3D to render some or all of their content. Windows devices that use a newer version of the Intel graphics driver (version greater than 30.0.101.1190) are not affected by this issue and have installed an Intel solution for this issue.
Windows home users are less likely to encounter this problem because applications affected by this problem are more common in enterprise environments.
Solution: to alleviate this problem, you can install an Intel graphics driver with a version earlier than 30.0.101.1190. It is recommended that you check that your Windows device manufacturer supports the latest version of the Intel graphics driver for your device. If they do not provide drivers higher than 30.0.101.1190, you can view the Intel graphics driver list for information on how to download and install the latest available Intel graphics drivers directly from Intel.
Solution: this issue has been resolved in KB5029247.
This update addresses an issue that affects applications that use DirectX on older Intel graphics card drivers. You may receive an error from apphelp.dll.
Due to Microsoft Defender protection vulnerabilities, the first few hours of a newly installed Windows may make the system vulnerable. This is because the operating system installation images (WIM and VHD files) may contain outdated anti-malware binaries.
Defender updates also include important performance fixes that can improve the user experience. Devices that use Windows's built-in antivirus software or other security solutions can benefit from these updates.
This feature supports the following operating system installation images:
Windows 11
Windows 10 (Enterprise, Professional, and Home Edition)
Windows Server 2019
Windows Server 2016
Version information
Defender package version: 20230809.1
Platform version: 4.18.23070.1004
Engine version: 1.1.23070.1005
Security Intelligence version: 1.395.68.0
According to Microsoft's security announcement, we know that version 1.395.68.0 released a few days ago added detection for threats such as Trojans, extortion software and backdoor vulnerabilities, as well as Windows patches to block AutoKMS (key management service).
In addition to Windows, Microsoft has also introduced Office security updates for Outlook, Excel, Word, and other issues such as spoofing and remote code execution (RCE).
