CTOnews.com, August 13 (Xinhua)-- Sacrilege Motors, an American electric car startup, has launched an electric car based on the 1992 Porsche 911 sports car, replacing its original six-cylinder gasoline engine with the motor of Tesla's Model S model.

According to reports, the car is scheduled to make its debut at Monterrey Automobile week on August 20 this year.

The Porsche 911 was originally powered by a six-cylinder engine and a four-speed automatic gearbox. After being replaced with a Model S motor, officials say the car can produce a maximum power of about 373kW, with a peak torque of 500N ·m. At the same time, the weight of the whole vehicle is 1450kg, which is less than 100kg compared with the original car. Thanks to weight control, the car accelerates in less than 4 seconds for 100 kilometers.

In addition, the car is equipped with customized Penske adjustable shock absorbers, Brembo brake calipers and Michelin tires. In terms of battery, the car has a battery capacity of 62kWh and is said to have a range of about 320km.

According to previous reports from CTOnews.com, Porsche is planning to gradually electrify its car lineup so that electric cars account for 80% of its sales by 2030, and plans to make its iconic 911 the only fuel model.

Karl Dums, head of Porsche's e-fuel team, said the company was planning to electrify its compact SUV Macan, followed by the 718 sports car and then the best-selling Cayenne. But the 911, which accounted for 13% of Porsche's sales in 2022, is an exception.
