Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen South China Wu Yanzu for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com August 13 news, Twitter blogger wxnod yesterday evening in a tweet to show a special CPU, which is very similar to the existing LGA 1700 CPU (12th generation Alder Lake and 13th generation Raptor Lake), but after careful observation, this CPU and the above CPU is actually "very different."

It is said that the top cover of this CPU looks larger than that of existing CPUs, and the socket is equipped with two grooves for holding chips. In contrast, existing CPUs typically have four grooves, but at the same time, the two grooves on this CPU are also located differently from the grooves on the LGA 1700 CPU.

Igor's Lab previously published a design drawing for the LGA 1851, which shows a similar groove design-so the mystery CPU is most likely an LGA 1851 CPU.

As for what its specific model is, Twitter blogger HKEPC from Hong Kong gave his answer: it may be an Intel Meteor Lake-S CPU with 6+8 core configuration, built-in 6 Redwood Cove P cores and 8 Crestmont E cores.

Although the desktop CPU, purportedly the Meteor Lake-S, has been unveiled, there has been no official announcement so far. The only desktop CPU Intel expects to release this year will be the 14th generation Raptor Lake Refresh.

CTOnews.com previously reported that source @OneRaichu had said in late May that Intel's May roadmap had eliminated the MTL-S 6+8 model and replaced it with the ARL-S 6+8 model, but@xinoassin1 insisted that it was only renamed rather than completely cut.

The leaked roadmap shows Intel's plans for Week 18 of 2023 (May 1 to May 7), which include S, H, PX, M, U and N series, indicating that Intel will offer gamers a full range of new Core series.

The Meteor Lake-S at the core of the 6P+8E has been repeatedly rumored to be cancelled and replaced by Arrow Lake with the same configuration, and this update to the roadmap largely confirms these rumors.

As far as we know, the next generation of Core processors may not have more cores than Raptor Lake, but thanks to the update of Lion Cove and Skymont hybrid architecture, coupled with the new Intel 4 (original 7nm) process, this generation of new products will have a good improvement.

Meteor Lake will feature a new chiplet design that will leverage Redwood Cove performance cores to handle heavy workloads while using energy-efficient Cresmont efficiency cores to perform simpler tasks, maximizing performance without sacrificing power consumption.
