The Windows backup app is expected to be unique to the upcoming Windows 11 23H2 update, but it turns out that Microsoft also wants Windows 10 users to get a new backup experience.

CTOnews.com noted that this week Microsoft released a preview of the Windows 10 19045.3391 release, and after installing the update, users found an announced change: the new Windows backup application. Users can run the program from the start menu to back up folders, applications, credentials, and settings in OneDrive.

Other changes in Windows 10 build 19045.3391 include various underlying improvements. For example, the operating system can now better detect the location of users to provide better weather, news, traffic information, and other geography-based data. This update also introduces new account-related notifications, daylight saving time changes for new countries, and various fixes.

Windows 10 is expected to die within two years, and Microsoft has made it clear that there will be no new features or major changes to the system. Nevertheless, the company continues to support Windows 10, making the necessary security fixes and minor changes to the experience, including migrating from Windows 10 devices to devices running Windows 11, which seems to be the case with the new Windows backup application.
