The media evaluated Intel Xeon Platinum 8380 (Ice Lake), Xeon Gold 6226R (Cascade Lake), and consumer core i7-1165G7 (Tiger Lake) processors, and evaluated the performance differences before and after the mitigation patch was deployed.

Intel Xeon Gold 6226R lost up to 33% of its performance in the OSPRay 2.12 test and up to 20% in the Neural Magic DeepSparse 1.5 test.

Intel consumer core i7-1165G7 saw a performance drop of 11% in the OpenVLK 1.3.1 test and 19% to 39% in the OSPRay 2.12 test.

In addition to the deployment of AVX2 and AVX-512 instruction sets for AI and HPC scenarios, these instruction sets are also used for general tasks such as video coding.

In view of the high cost of hackers to exploit this vulnerability and the complexity of the operation, consumers need to judge whether it is necessary to install the mitigation patch according to their own situation.
