CTOnews.com August 11, according to foreign technology media Windows Latest reports, Microsoft recently released for Canary channel Win11 Build 25921 preview, has begun to clean up the file manager, system tray and taskbar in the legacy components. Microsoft is planning to release the next major version of Win11 in 2024, one of which is to clean up legacy components, in addition to introducing many new features.

Citing the media, CTOnews.com reported that the entire clean-up process will take several months, and the traditional notification integration components in the system tray have been cleaned up in the new preview, as well as plans to clean up some legacy components in the file manager, system tray, and taskbar.

The media believes that Microsoft's removal of these legacy components may cause third-party customized applications such as ExplorerPatcher to not work properly.

Microsoft will not give up all legacy components at once, and the "old" file manager with the classic control panel still exists, but users need to type "C:" in the file manager to manually switch to the "old" file manager.
