CTOnews.com August 10 news, SMIC today released a summary of its results for the second quarter of 2023, with revenue of $1.56 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 11.263 billion yuan) and market expectations of $1.553 billion, compared with $1.903 billion in the same period last year, down 18% from a year earlier.

The net profit in the second quarter was $402.8 million (currently about 2.908 billion yuan), and the market is expected to be $184 million, compared with $514 million in the same period last year, down 21.7% from the same period last year.

In terms of specific revenue, SMIC accounted for 79.6% of revenue in China in the second quarter, followed by 17.6% of 12-inch wafers in the United States, accounting for 74.7% and 25.3% of 8-inch wafers.

In terms of capacity, SMIC's monthly production capacity increased from 732250 8-inch wafers in the first quarter of 2023 to 754250 8-inch wafers in the second quarter of 2023.

SMIC said sales rose 6.7 per cent to $1.56 billion in the second quarter of 2023 from a month earlier, while gross profit margin fell 0.5 per cent to 20.3 per cent. 12-inch capacity demand is relatively full, 8-inch customer demand is weak, capacity utilization is less than 12 inches, but still better than the industry average.

SMIC officially expects sales to grow by 3% to 5% month-on-month in the third quarter, with a gross profit margin of between 18% and 20%. Shipments are expected to continue to rise in the third quarter, while depreciation will continue to increase. The company's sales revenue in the second half of the year is expected to be better than that in the first half.
