Adjusted earnings per ADS were RMB17.37, compared with RMB11.73 a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA was 52.05 billion yuan, up 27% year-on-year. Adjusted net profit was 44.92 billion yuan, up 48% year-on-year.

CTOnews.com learned from Alibaba's earnings report that Taotian Group's revenue increased 12% year-on-year, Taobao App DAU increased 6.5% year-on-year in June; Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group's revenue increased 41% year-on-year; rookie revenue increased 34% year-on-year; local living revenue increased 30% year-on-year; and entertainment revenue increased 36% year-on-year.

The AI boom led to an increase in demand for computing power and model services, with Alibaba Cloud's quarterly revenue up 4% year-on-year and adjusted EBITA up 106% year-on-year.

Cainiao Group's revenue for the quarter was 23.164 billion yuan, up 34% year-on-year. Alibaba said that this quarter, Cainiao continued to enhance logistics capacity, international express launched "global five-day delivery," overseas distribution centers increased to 18, domestic preferred warehouse allocation "half-day delivery" speed experience covers key 8 cities. Quality service coupled with technology-led operational optimization also improved Cainiao's profitability this quarter.

Ant Group contributed $602 million to Alibaba's profits in the first quarter (currently about 4.346 billion yuan), according to the financial report.

Alibaba's U.S. stock market rose before trading, up nearly 4%, the company's first quarter revenue exceeded estimates.
