Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens OC_Formula and Wu Yanzu in South China for their clue delivery! CTOnews.com August 10 news, Micron announced today that it has produced a sample Meguiar CZ120 memory expansion module for customers and partners. The module has two capacities of 128GB and 256GB, adopts E3.S 2T form factor, and supports PCIe 5.0x8 interface.

In addition, the CZ120 module provides the highest 36GB/s memory read / write bandwidth and provides enhanced support for standard server systems when additional memory capacity and bandwidth are needed.

The CZ120 module uses the Compute Express Link (CXL) standard and fully supports the CXL 2.0 Type 3 standard and can be used for AI training and reasoning models, SaaS applications, in-memory databases, high-performance computing, and general computing workloads that can run on local or cloud hypervisors.

Meguiar said that CXL-based high-capacity memory expansion modules can be more flexible to build servers with larger memory capacity and low latency to meet application workload requirements. Compared with servers that only use RDIMM memory, CZ120 claims to increase the number of daily database queries by up to 96%, and the memory read / write bandwidth of a single CPU increases by 24%.

With 256GB's CZ120 memory expansion module, independent software vendors, cloud service providers, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), and original design manufacturers (ODM) can increase the memory capacity of the highest 2TB to the server. Without adding servers, greater capacity means stronger performance and higher memory bandwidth. By making better use of the computing and memory resources of enterprise and cloud applications, enterprises can reduce capital and operating expenses for their data center applications.
