CTOnews.com August 10 news, the President of the United States signed the "Chip Act" a year ago, which plans to provide a total of $52.7 billion (CTOnews.com Note: about 380.494 billion yuan) subsidies to the US semiconductor industry.

Photo Source: Intel United States released the relevant applications in June this year, the latest official announcement said that 460 companies have received applications, but the government agencies want to start more detailed negotiations on subsidies, and have not begun to issue subsidies.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Genna Raimundo (Gina Raimondo) said it is important to respond quickly, but it is more important to ensure that the right action is taken.

In order to ensure the promotion of the subsidy program, the US government has specially set up a team of more than 140 experts to work out the relevant rules to assess whether the subsidy providers meet the requirements.

CTOnews.com previously reported that of the $52.7 billion, the U.S. Department of Commerce will provide $39 billion (currently about 281.58 billion yuan) for manufacturing subsidy programs; $11 billion (currently about 79.42 billion yuan) will be used to establish the National Semiconductor Technology Center, which will serve the semiconductor research and development of American companies, but the address has not yet been finalized. It also provides a 25 per cent investment tax credit for chip factory construction, which is estimated to be worth $24 billion (currently about 173.28 billion yuan).

The U.S. Department of Commerce has made it clear that the qualifications of applicants will be strictly reviewed. Semiconductor manufacturers applying for subsidies must submit detailed financial data, planned objectives of the manufacturing programme and capital investment plans to prevent the grant from being misused.
