Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com August 10 news, foreign science and technology media Android Headlines interpreted Guo Mingxing's recent revelations about Qualcomm, believing that Qualcomm has concluded the production agreement of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip with TSMC and Samsung.

Guo Mingyi said Qualcomm is currently promoting its 3nm chips and has partnered with TSMC and Samsung Foundry to produce flagship processors for 2024.

After Samsung produced several generations of Snapdragon's flagship chips for Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 order released last year was handed over to TSMC because of severe fever and low yield.

TSMC produced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 + Gen 1 chips for Qualcomm last year, and will be responsible for producing Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips this year.

Although TSMC has prepared the 3nm process, most of the production capacity has been handed over to Apple, and Qualcomm has insisted on using the 4nm process for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to reduce manufacturing costs.

CTOnews.com quoted the media as saying that TSMC is responsible for producing Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors, while Samsung is responsible for producing Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 "for Galaxy" processors, which will be made available to other handset manufacturers as a "leading version" in the case of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

There are also differences in 3nm processes between TSMC and Samsung. TSMC still uses the old FinFET transistor architecture, while Samsung has turned to a more advanced GAA architecture and is currently unable to tell the difference.
