CTOnews.com, August 10 (Xinhua)-- Apple's Vision Pro headshow will be available in 2024. Apple has released the visionOS Software Development Kit (SDK), which allows developers to develop and test Apple Vision Pro apps ahead of time on the Mac. Surprisingly, someone has successfully migrated the Windows XP virtual machine to visionOS.

In a video shared on the X website, the developer of the UTM project shows how the Windows XP virtual machine was successfully launched in the visionOS simulator. UTM is a QEMU-based system simulator and virtual machine host that supports iOS and macOS platforms. In other words, it allows users to run Windows, Linux, or even macOS systems on iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Developers say that although Windows XP has been successfully simulated in visionOS, they have not yet implemented support for input devices, that is, there is no way to interact with the virtual machine after it is started. Of course, this is one of the features that UTM developers plan to implement in the future.

Apple's Vision Pro operating system, visionOS, is based on iPadOS-a platform already supported by the UTM project.

UTM apps will probably not appear in App Store because Apple does not allow virtual machine applications on the iOS platform. This application must be installed via a side loading method (such as AltStore) or TestFlight.

Apple's Vision Pro will be available in the United States in early 2024 and then in other countries, starting at $3499 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 25298 yuan).
