CTOnews.com, August 10 (Xinhua)-- the weighted average retail price (WARP) of Apple's iPhone products has fallen for the first time since 2017 in the United States, according to the latest report released by market research firm CIRP.

CTOnews.com quoted the report as saying that Apple's iPhone WARP has been on an upward trend since 2017, but found in the latest survey that it fell to $948 (currently about 6854 yuan) in the second quarter, compared with $988 in the first quarter (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 7143 yuan).

According to the report, the two main factors are model mix and storage upgrades, and Apple's pricing strategy has also led to a decline in WARP.

The report argues that inflation has pushed up the prices of most products bought by US consumers, but Apple's pricing of the iPhone has not changed since 2020, and the last price adjustment for the Pro model dates back to 2017.

In addition to the economic pressure on American consumers, what is more important is that buyers' preferences have also changed and are no longer pursuing top-end iPhone models.

In the second quarter of 2023, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus accounted for 36 per cent of US sales. TX iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max together accounted for 43 per cent. Overall, Pro models are more popular, but the ratio of Pro to base models shows signs of change.
