CTOnews.com, Aug. 10 (Xinhua)-- Apple lens supplier Sony said on its latest earnings call that demand for the iPhone 15 series will be lower than expected due to the global economic downturn, according to Bloomberg.

CTOnews.com note: Apple's Q3 results show that Apple's iPhone sales are lower than in previous years, relying mainly on services to make up for it.

Sony had previously said it expected its smartphone sensor business to recover in the second half of 2023, but at its latest earnings conference it postponed the recovery to 2024.

Sadahiko Hayakawa, senior general manager of Sony Finance, said: "the recovery of the smartphone market in China is slower than we expected, the situation in the US market is deteriorating, and we had expected the smartphone market to recover from the second half of this fiscal year, but now we do not expect this to happen until at least next year."
