According to Huirong Technology, the upcoming SM2508 is a PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe 2.0 SSD controller with optimized performance and power consumption, which is suitable for notebook computers, desktops and workstations. It supports eight NAND channels with speeds up to 3600 MT/s each, providing sequential read and write speeds up to 14GB/s and random read and write speeds of 2.5 million IOPS. Huirong said that SM2508 with ~ 3.5W ultra-low power performance, released the extreme potential of PCIe Gen5 performance, suitable for a wider range of notebook computer applications.

As previously reported by IT House, the PCIe 5.0 SSD currently on the market has a speed of 12.4 GB/s, and the high-end model is basically equipped with a small fan for active cooling.
