The satellite entered the scheduled orbit smoothly and the mission was a complete success. The satellite will effectively enhance the operational application capacity of disaster prevention, emergency management and ecological environment remote sensing monitoring in China.

It is equipped with payloads such as S-band synthetic aperture radar subsystem and emergency data processing subsystem. S-band synthetic aperture radar can not be interfered by clouds and rain, which can effectively make up for the deficiency that optical satellites are vulnerable to weather factors. The emergency data processing subsystem can greatly improve the satellite remote sensing data support capability and emergency response capability of environmental emergencies through real-time imaging on board, hot spot information extraction and preprocessing. The star provides basic data guarantee for operational applications in disaster reduction and environment-related fields, and serves land and resources, water conservancy, agriculture, forestry and other industries. The 06 satellite will operate in orbit with the 05 satellite, and the satellite constellation for emergency management and ecological environment services and its supporting space-earth integrated service application system will be initially built to further meet the supply and demand of medium-resolution synthetic aperture radar data in related fields.

The National Space Administration is responsible for the organization and management of the environmental disaster reduction II 06 satellite project, the organization and coordination of major issues, and the approval of launch permits. NASA's Earth observation and data Center undertakes the overall work of the project; as user departments, the Department of Emergency Management and the Ministry of Ecological Environment are responsible for the construction and operation of their respective application systems. The Fifth Academy of Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Co., Ltd. of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. is responsible for the general development of satellite system, and the first institute is responsible for the development of carrier rocket system. Tencent App Center of China Resources Satellite and the Aerospace Information Innovation Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences are responsible for the construction and operation of the ground system.

This mission is the 482nd launch of the long March series of carrier rockets.
