Samsung's DRAM revenue in the first quarter was $4.01 billion (CTOnews.com note: currently about 28.832 billion yuan), down 61.2% from $10.35 billion in the same period last year (currently about 74.416 billion yuan), and 25.2% month-on-month, according to Omdia.

In the first quarter of this year, SK Hynix's DRAM market share fell to 24.7% from 27.0% in the previous quarter, down 2.3% from the previous quarter, and the industry fell from second to third place. Meguiar currently takes second place with a market share of 27.2%.

Total NAND sales halved in the first quarter of 2023, but Samsung's market share still grew 0.4 percent to 34.3 percent. The NAND industry is expected to continue to shrink. SK Hynix's share of the NAND flash market fell from No. 3 to No. 4 in the previous quarter, down from 16.8%.

"although demand for high-capacity and high-performance products such as DDR5 and HBM is recovering due to AI development demand, NAND lacks the momentum to recover demand and customer inventory levels remain low," said an industry insider. It is necessary to reduce production to withstand price falls and losses.
