CTOnews.com August 8, Microsoft recently released an update announcing that it will stop its Microsoft hosted Desktop (Microsoft Managed Desktop) service on July 31, 2024.

Microsoft launched the service in 2018 to provide organizations with comprehensive mid-range management solutions covering device configuration, security monitoring and performance optimization.

Microsoft opens the service to enterprise customers with Microsoft 365 E5 or E3 licenses and requires the use of approved hardware devices such as Microsoft Surface or certain OEM models.

Microsoft did not give any official reason to stop the service, but it assured customers that it would work closely with them to provide support and guidance for the transition. CTOnews.com attached the official announcement of Microsoft as follows:

As Microsoft managed services enter a new phase of growth, Microsoft managed desktops will transition to end-of-life (EOL) on July 31, 2024.
