Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for clue delivery! CTOnews.com AMD's fTPM Random Number Generator (RNG) recently experienced a stuttering issue that initially affected Windows users, but later also Linux. Linus Torvalds, the father of Linux, believes that even if firmware/ BIOS is updated, the generator will still cause users to stun.

According to the latest Linux kernel patch, AMD has completely disabled all current AMD fTPM RNG use, thus solving the problem of stuck once and for all.

AMD Linux engineer Marion Limonciello wrote the merge patch, CTOnews.com with the following main content:

TPM RNG functionality is unnecessary for entropy when the CPU already supports RDRAND instructions. TPM RNG functionality was previously disabled on a subset of AMD's fTPM family, but reports continue to show issues on some systems that cause TPM RNG functionality to be the root cause of stuttering.

Extend the use of disabling TPM RNG to all AMD fTPM, regardless of whether their version claims to be fixed.

The patch was incorporated into the mainline of the Linux 6.5 kernel today, while the patch was also marked for backporting to Linux 6.1 and newer stable kernels. As a result, AMD RyzenTM processor users will have a permanent improvement in running Linux.
