CTOnews.com, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) Musk's brain-computer interface startup Neuralink has completed a new round of $280 million (CTOnews.com note: about 2.013 billion yuan), led by Founders Fund, the godfather of Silicon Valley venture capital. A few months ago, the company received approval from US regulators to conduct its first human clinical trial.

Neuralink is a company dedicated to developing chips and devices that can be connected to the human brain. Its goal is to enable humans to control electronic devices and treat diseases related to the nervous system through the mind. The company did not disclose the valuation of the financing round. Reuters reported in June that the company was valued at about $5 billion in private stock trading.

Neuralink posted an article on Musk-owned social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, saying that "we are very excited about the next chapter of Neuralink." Employees of the company said last year that the company was in a hurry to conduct animal experiments because Musk put pressure on employees to obtain approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as soon as possible, resulting in unnecessary animal deaths. The data generated by these animal experiments are designed to support the company's application for human clinical trials.
