On August 5, Xiaomi held a hackathon OPEN DAY in Beijing Xiaomi Science and Technology Park, where eight project teams, which stood out from 76 teams, communicated with users face-to-face at the event site.

At the scene, Wang Bin, director of the AI Lab of Xiaomi Group's Technical Committee, said that Xiaomi technology research and development has entered 12 technical areas, including 5G mobile communication technology, big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, while it is based on intelligent manufacturing, entering robots, unmanned factories, intelligent electric vehicles, etc., with 98 overall subdivisions.

According to reports, at present, Xiaomi is building an ever-expanding scientific and technological scene, from smartphones to wearable devices and smart homes, to intelligent manufacturing, intelligent electric vehicles and bionic robots, to create a pioneer and complete leading science and technology ecology, and to provide users with a better intelligent life in all directions and full scenes.

This competition is based on the evaluation of six dimensions: innovation, technology leadership, application scenario, user experience, business value and work completeness. Finally, one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, six excellence prizes and four special prizes of the Star Program are produced.

CTOnews.com noted that the first prize winning project, "Xiaomi AI glasses-Vision system based on semantic understanding", uses glasses as a carrier to carry out a visual recognition system, which uses binocular cameras to carry out multimodal recognition of the name, distance, location, color, text and human face of objects, providing people with visual impairment with functions such as human recognition, recognition, road recognition and character recognition.

In terms of R & D investment, Lei Jun has said that Xiaomi's R & D investment is about 17 billion yuan in 2022, is expected to reach 20 billion yuan this year, and will exceed 100 billion in the next five years.
