Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen South China Wu Yanzu for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com Microsoft recently updated its list of supported Intel and AMD processors, and while the company added some new Ryzen chips, including an AMD chip that hasn't been released (at least not yet), Microsoft unexpectedly removed many Intel CPUs from its list of compatible processors.

In addition to updating its list, Microsoft may also be working to block Windows 11 installation on unsupported hardware. German website Deskmodder reported that one of its forum members was unable to install Windows 11 on its Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 system. This user is a user of Insider Canary channel and seems to be blocked when installing Windows 11 build 25905 on their PC, but previous versions work fine. Similarly, AMD's Turion II P650 processor was blocked from installation.

It's worth mentioning that replacing previous versions of Windows image files with install.wim for build 25905 also seems to block installation of these earlier versions, confirming that Microsoft did make some changes.

It turns out that the ability to crack installation blocks using tools like Rufus and Ventoy may not work, and other methods like circumventing TPM requirements may not work.

While Microsoft maintains its list of compatible CPUs, people often run Windows 11 on unsupported chips, and most of the time have a good experience. Interestingly, a senior Microsoft executive was caught using an unsupported processor during a Windows Insider webcast, and CTOnews.com noted that Microsoft has mistakenly offered Windows 11 upgrades to users using unsupported hardware in the past.
