Global consumer demand for tablets continued to be weak in the quarter, with large manufacturers experiencing double-digit declines and high channel inventory levels, but analysts expect the problem to ease further in the coming months.
In addition, Chromebook shipments also showed a downward trend in the second quarter of 2023, but only 1.8% lower than a year earlier, with a total shipment of 5.8 million units. Lenovo rose to third place in the quarter, with shipments of 2.1 million units, down 38.8 per cent from a year earlier, but up 12.9 per cent from a month earlier.
Huawei ranked fourth in shipments this quarter, with 1.7 million units, down 22.9% from a year earlier.
Xiaomi entered the top five for the first time this quarter, with shipments of 1 million units, up 41.6 per cent from a year earlier. Analysts point out that this is the result of the company's strategic product launch and the good channel layout established in the Asian market.
