CTOnews.com, August 6 (Xinhua)-- Chilean banking giant Transbank shared a post on social media: welcome Apple Pay to the country, Chilean financial newspaper Diario Financeiro reported. Although the post was later deleted, journalist Pedro Mart í n independently confirmed to "at least four sources from financial institutions" that Apple Pay is scheduled to be officially launched in Chile on August 8.

CTOnews.com learned from foreign media that the Bank of Chile briefly allowed some users to add bank cards to Apple Wallet in September 2021, but all bank cards were deleted a few days later. In January 2022, a new Apple Pay landing page was added to Apple's Chile website, but the feature is still unavailable.

According to Diario Financeiro, Banco Santander, Banco de Chile, Bci, BICE, Banco Falabella, Ita ú and Scotiabank will be the first Chilean banks to support Apple Pay.
