CTOnews.com August 5, BMW Chairman Oliver Zipse confirmed in a quarterly conference call that the BMW Vision Neue Klasse will be publicly launched at the IAA auto show in Munich, Germany, on September 2.

BMW unveiled the i Vision Dee for the first time at this year's CES show, and the Vision Neue Klasse is a mass production model of the former, and it is also reported that the model will be launched as the next generation of the BMW 3-Series.

"We are now turning our vision into reality again. I can assure you that Vision Neue Klasse is close to production standards and will soon be on the road," Mr Chipze said.

Other electric vehicles based on the Neue Klasse platform will also be built first in Germany and then expanded to Mexico in 2027. CTOnews.com has previously reported that electric vehicles using the Neue Klasse platform will use a new generation of battery and motor technology to achieve a "huge technological leap". The Neue Klasse electric car will adopt a new concept called "pack-to-open-body", which will allow BMW to customize its battery size to suit any model by using a circular battery instead of a prismatic battery.

On the power side, the Neue Klasse platform will provide power output from 268 horsepower to 1341 horsepower, and the architecture can accommodate up to four motors. At present, the BMW M brand is already testing the first pure electric model with four motors.

Most future Neue Klasse models will be rear-drive and four-wheel drive, with one or two SSM motors to drive the rear wheels. BMW said the SSM motor has stable peak performance, high energy density, good repeatability, low noise emissions and 97 per cent efficiency.

BMW also announced the interior of the Vision Neue Klasse car, which can see a huge panoramic visual display that extends to the entire windshield.
