Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens, soft media new friends 2010825, Mr_C_rM, EdgeOS, South China Daniel Wu, Lanjue's strange uncle, Terrence, Dest1n, star pickup, bbs6, Yida maltose clues delivery! CTOnews.com, August 5, Microsoft today launched a new preview version of Win11, numbered Build 25921, to Canary Channel's Windows Insider project members. The new version mainly supports HDR background, start menu to provide thumbnail preview for cloud files, uninstallable Cortana and so on.

CTOnews.com attached Win11 Build 25921 preview update as follows: support HDR background if you are currently using a HDR monitor, you can set the JXR file to your desktop background and the system will render in full HDR mode.

To enable this feature, you need to make sure you have a HDR monitor or connect to a screen that supports HDR. You can check whether switching to HDR is supported by going to Settings > system > display.

Next, download the HDR .JXR file to your device. Then right-click the desktop, select "personalize", then select "background", and under "personalize your background"-select the .JXR file you downloaded to the device.

If the user has multiple monitors connected, the display of HDR or SDR will be dynamically selected according to the function of each monitor.

When using an external monitor connected to the device, Microsoft recommends running the HDR calibration application for the best picture quality. Please note that for this version, there may be some problems with the HDR version of the desktop background and may not display correctly on some laptops with HDR.

The start menu provides thumbnail previews for cloud files. Users who log in to Win11 Professional or Enterprise using their AAD account (soon to be renamed Microsoft Entra ID) can display a richer thumbnail preview after hovering over the Word cloud document under the "recommendation" section of the start menu.

Microsoft says the feature is not currently available for all files, but it will expand the number of supported file formats and further improve the preview effect.

In addition, after users right-click these cloud files, they can quickly share them.

CTOnews.com Note: currently, only users logged in to the AAD account can see rich thumbnail previews of cloud documents such as Word, as shown below:

Users who log in with a local account or a Microsoft account will see this experience when they hover over the files (cloud and local files) under recommendation on the start menu:

One of the current errors is that for files that do not provide a rich thumbnail preview, it should not display the preview area (where the thumbnail preview will be), and the file format icon is as follows:

Improvement and optimization: [general] users can uninstall Cortana in this version. For more information about the end of Cortana support, click here.

[taskbar and system tray] as mentioned earlier in Win11 Build 23481, the taskbar defaults to fixed free Microsoft Teams.

Click to launch Teams's Windows Insider and you'll find a mini communication experience where you can chat, call and meet with their people with just one or two clicks.

[task View and Desktop] when users switch virtual desktops in task view, a label is displayed.

Users can see a new sliding animation when they switch virtual desktops using touchpad gestures, touch gestures, keyboard combinations, and clicking buttons in the task view.
