CTOnews.com August 4 news, the market survey agency TechInsights today released the second quarter of 2023 global smartphone market report. Data show that global smartphone shipments fell-8% year-on-year in the quarter, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of annual decline, although the annual decline has slowed.

Samsung: shipped 53.5 million units, leading the global smartphone market with a 20 per cent market share, while smartphone shipments fell-14 per cent year-on-year.

Apple: iPhone shipped 43.1 million units, accounting for 16% of the market share. Apple's performance slightly underperformed the overall market, with shipments down-9% from a year earlier. China is expected to overtake the United States as the single country with the largest share of iPhone for the first time this quarter, with a market share of 24% and 21%, respectively.

Xiaomi: 33.2 million units shipped, ranking third with a 12% global market share, down from 14% a year ago. Meanwhile, stocks of Xiaomi phones in China and India have normalized this quarter.

OPPO & one plus: OPPO brand shipments were 22.2 million, down 11% from a year earlier, and one plus quarterly sales were 4.9 million, up 81% from a year earlier. Together, the two brands account for 10% of the global share, down 2% from a year earlier.

Tencent (the sum of Tecno, itel and Infinix brands): a Chinese brand focused on Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Central Latin America, the wholesale price of smartphones is mostly less than $100. global shipments of Q2 smartphones totaled 24.8 million units in 2023, up 31 per cent from a year earlier and a market share of 9 per cent, up from 6 per cent a year ago.

Vivo: demand is falling in all regions except Africa and the Middle East, with total shipments showing double-digit annual declines for seven consecutive quarters.

Glory: the Chinese market was weak in the quarter, showing an annual decline, but overseas business began to increase.

Realme true self: 4% of the global share, but there is still a double-digit annual decline, and Europe / Asia Pacific has lost some market share.

Lenovo-Motorola: the global market share is 4%, shipments are down 13% year-on-year, and sales in the Americas have fallen sharply because of the slow product release cycle of major post-payment operators in the United States and increased competition from other Chinese brands in Latin America. At the same time, the new flip folding screen razr 40 has played a role in regaining market share.

Huawei: shipments grew at a double-digit annual rate of 25% this quarter-thanks to the new Nova 11 series. It is reported that Huawei will return to 5G smartphones in the Chinese market in the second half of this year, and if the rumors come true, it will provide impetus for Huawei's "unexpected recovery journey" in its home market.
