CTOnews.com August 4 news, Microsoft is investigating the desktop version of Outlook unexpected pop-up window problem. The affected Microsoft 365 users reported that they would unexpectedly receive "Outlook was accidentally closed when you opened the project. Do you need to reopen the contents of the last session?" Dialog box.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that when using some Office permanent retail SKU versions such as Microsoft Office Professional Plus, Office Home and Enterprise, this issue will be encountered in Version 2306 (Build 16529.20154) and later.

Microsoft says the Outlook team is currently investigating the issue, but has launched a temporary fix for affected users:

1. Start the Registry Editor

3. Create or edit the ReopenWindowsOption value and change it to 1

4. Exit Registry Editor

5. Restart Outlook
