The institute puts forward a concept of "elastic ferroelectric material", designs an accurate "micro-crosslinking method" to establish a network structure in ferroelectric polymer, and realizes the balance between ferroelectricity and elasticity of ferroelectric material. the elastic materials with good ferroelectric response under high frequency and large strain have been prepared.
CTOnews.com noted that the team used a small amount of soft chain polymer to cross-link the amorphous winding parts around the ferroelectric crystal and interweave each other to form an elastic fishing net structure. This kind of fishing net structure loosely connects the ferroelectric crystals together, and under the action of external force, it can produce reversible deformation to absorb external force and avoid the damage of external force to the crystallization part. so that the material can still maintain stable ferroelectricity in a certain range of tension.
The stretching rate of this material is as high as 125%. After stretching, it can not only maintain the original ferroelectricity, but also quickly restore the original state after the external force is removed, which greatly improves the reliability and service life, and expands the scope of application.
In addition, the material effectively solves the problem that it is difficult for traditional ferroelectric materials to maintain stable performance under large deformation in the wearable field, and fills the gap in the field of elastic ferroelectric materials. In the future, the sensors made of this material will be more easygoing, have higher measurement accuracy and better wearing comfort, and are expected to be widely used in smart medicine, intelligent wearable and other fields, and even made into arbitrarily bent mobile phone screens.
