Before that, the scientific community generally believed that the age of the solar system was 4.5673 billion years old, more than 1.1 million years older than the previous results.

Conel Alexander, a researcher at the Carnegie Institute of Science in Washington, D.C., said: "although this is only a small change (for the solar system), it is indeed important for the origin of the early solar system."

Back to this paper. In the paper, the author explains that in order to understand the birth of planets and the story of the first millions of years of the solar system, "meteorites witnessing this era" have been studied. The key point is that the following factors need to be identified:

Formation time of meteorite components

The time of accretion and melting of the parent planet of meteorites

The time of the meteorite collision

The relative sequence of the above events in the solar nebula

In particular, the researchers studied the calcium-/ aluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs) found in meteorites, the earliest objects in the solar system that can now be identified. These inclusions contain a certain amount of aluminum, calcium, manganese and other elements. By studying the radioactive decay and quantity of these elements, the age of the solar system can be obtained. However, some of the same chemical elements with different core neutron numbers are radioactive and will become different elements over time.

CTOnews.com notes that previous calculations of the age of the solar system are based on the ratio of lead in these packages, which may indicate that the primitive solar nebula is diverse rather than the same everywhere.

However, new research suggests that the age estimated by the lead ratio may be slightly younger than the age estimated by the aluminum ratio. The researchers also pointed out that not all inclusions are formed at the same time, but "it seems that more than half" inclusions are formed near the newly discovered point of time.
