Beijing, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) three car owners in California filed a lawsuit against Tesla on Wednesday, accusing Tesla of false propaganda and exaggerating the estimated range of electric vehicles.

Tesla was charged with false mileage. The three Tesla owners filed a lawsuit with the US District Court for the Northern District of California and sought to escalate the case to a class action. On behalf of all California car owners who bought the new Model 3, Model S, Model Y, and Model X, they sued Tesla for compensation, but did not disclose the specific amount.

The lawsuit quoted a report by Reuters last week. Reported that Tesla CEO Elon Musk (Elon Musk) personally ordered to provide an "optimistic" life expectancy for the car, in order to attract customers to buy a car. However, as the service center was overcrowded because of a large number of complaints from car owners about mileage, Tesla set up a "transfer complaint team" in Nevada to minimize the number of reservations related to mileage. Tesla and Musk have not yet responded to the report.

The lawsuit alleges that Tesla violated the car warranty and committed fraud and unfair competition. "in short, Tesla has the responsibility to deliver a product whose performance is consistent with that advertised." Adam Adam Edwards, a lawyer at Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman, the law firm that represents Tesla's owners, said in a statement.

The three plaintiffs cited situations in which the mileage of their Tesla car did not reach the level of advertising and said they had complained to Tesla, but without success. One of the plaintiffs is James Porter (James Porter), an Model Y owner in Petaluma, California. Porter cited a trip as an example, saying that although he had driven only 92 miles, he had "lost about 182 miles".

"if Tesla honestly advertises the range of his electric vehicles, then consumers will either not buy Tesla's Model models, or they will only buy them for less money." The lawsuit alleges.

In addition, Tesla also faces litigation and regulatory scrutiny for his autopilot system (Autopilot) and fully autopilot system (FSD), as well as publicity for the safety of these systems. In April this year, Reuters reported that Tesla employees shared sensitive images and videos captured by car cameras on the internal information system. As a result, a California Tesla owner accused Tesla of violating customer privacy and prepared to escalate the case to a class action. Tesla denies the charges.

Tesla and Musk have not commented on the lawsuit.
