CTOnews.com August 3 news, Volvo now released July global sales data. Volvo sold 54,165 new cars worldwide in July, up 21% from a year earlier. This is Volvo's eleventh consecutive month of year-on-year growth.

Among them, the sales volume of new energy vehicles was 18,700, with a year-on-year growth of 95%; the sales volume of plug-in vehicles was 13,200, with a year-on-year growth of 65%; and the sales volume of pure electricity was 5504, with a year-on-year growth of 248%, accounting for 10.16% of the total sales volume.

In the first seven months of 2023, the company sold 395,856 vehicles worldwide, up 18% from the same period last year.

Volvo's U.S. sales rose 57 percent to 10,785 vehicles in July. Compared to last year, the number of new energy vehicles increased by 226%, and 29% of all cars sold in Volvo Cars 'second largest market were Recharge models.

The main boost in Volvo's pure electric sales came from the European market and the US market. Volvo sold 2712 pure electric vehicles in Europe in July, up 173% year-on-year and 13% pure electric share, while 1255 pure electric vehicles were sold in the US market, up 1235% year-on-year. Overall sales and pure electric sales in other markets also maintained growth.

However, in the Chinese market, Volvo's demand is weak, total sales and pure electric sales have declined, July total sales of 14,200 vehicles, down 8% year-on-year; pure electric sales of only 253 vehicles, down 26% year-on-year.

In July, Volvo's XC60 became its best-selling model with sales of 18259 units (16261 units in 2022), followed by XC40 with 14,594 units (10,640 units in 2022) and XC90 with 8,640 units (10,640 units in 2022).

In the second quarter of this year, Volvo Group net sales increased by 18% to SEK 140.8 billion (CTOnews.com note: currently about RMB 97.568 billion). Excluding exchange rate fluctuations, net sales revenue increased by 11%.

Adjusted operating profit was SEK 21.732 billion (compared to SEK 13.745 billion in the same period last year) and adjusted operating margin was 15.4%(compared to SEK 11.6% in the same period last year). Adjusted operating profit excludes SEK 1.27 billion charges charged for the previously announced Nova Bus restructuring and the negative impact of SEK 6 billion charges relating to claims arising from the European Commission's 2016 antitrust settlement agreement.

Reported operating profit of SEK 14.462 billion (13.745 billion in the same period last year); exchange rate fluctuations had a positive impact on operating profit of SEK 817 million; earnings per share of SEK 5.30 Cash flow from operating activities in the Industrial Operations segment was SEK 12.553 billion (compared to SEK 7.199 billion in the same period last year); return on capital in the Industrial Operations segment was 30.2%(compared to SEK 26.8% in the same period last year).
