According to the official website of the European Telecommunications Standardization Association (ETSI), in July 2023, the AVS3 audio and video source coding standard, jointly launched by more than 100 domestic and foreign superior units, including Pengcheng Laboratory, Peking University, Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., has been officially approved as one of the next generation video standards of ETSI. Included in ETSI's Digital Video Broadcasting: specifications for the use of Video and Audio coding in Broadcasting and Broadband applications (standard number ETSI TS 101154 v2.8.1).

According to public data, AVS3 is the world's first video coding standard for 8K and 5G industrial applications launched in China. In July 2022, the AVS3 audio and video source coding standard has been formally incorporated into the core specification of the International Digital Video Broadcasting Organization (DVB).

Up to now, AVS3 has been widely used in many large-scale live broadcast events such as CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 2021 and Beijing Winter Olympic Games in 2022 by means of television, Internet and mobile devices. The 2023 version of the implementation Guide for 4K Ultra High definition TV issued by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television has added new standards such as AVS3 to guide its network transmission mode.
