CTOnews.com, August 3, Nintendo today released financial data for the first quarter of fiscal year 2024 (April to June 2023):

The first quarter operating profit is 185.44 billion yen (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 9.309 billion yuan), an increase of 82% over the same period last year, with an estimated 144.9 billion yen.

Net profit is 181.02 billion yen (currently about 9.087 billion yuan), an increase of 52% over the same period last year, with an estimated 115.66 billion yen

Net sales are 461.34 billion yen (currently about 23.159 billion yuan), an increase of 50% over the same period last year, with an estimated 400.55 billion yen.

Nintendo said it got off to a strong start to its Switch business in the first fiscal quarter (April-June 2023), with 18.51 million copies of the Legend of Zelda: tears of the Kingdom sold in May. In addition, the "Mario Racing 8 Deluxe Edition" sold 1.67 million sets (a total of 55.46 million), "Mario"-related games performed well, and other games sold steadily.

In the current quarter, hardware sales rose 13.9% year-on-year to 3.91 million units, and software sales rose 26.1% to 52.21 million units. By the end of June, cumulative sales of the Switch had reached 1 29.53 million units.

Looking ahead, Nintendo said in its financial report:

On the hardware side, by continuing to convey the appeal of Switch, the goal is to expand from "one per household" to "multiple per household" and then to "one per person". In addition, officials will continue to put forward unique suggestions and strive to maximize sales so that more consumers can play Switch for a longer time.

On the software side, in addition to the July release of Pickmin 4, Nintendo also plans to release games such as Super Mario Brothers Wonder (October) and Super Mario RPG (November).
