CTOnews.com, August 3 (Xinhua)-- led by Republican Gus Bilirakis and Democrat Jan Schakowsky, US lawmakers recently sent a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook asking for an explanation of why App Store "doesn't like" NFT and blockchain-related apps.

In the letter, the Innovation, data and Business Subcommittee (Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce) asked Apple to explain why it was curbing NFT and blockchain applications, and asked for more transparency.

Apple uses its App Store guidelines to increase its profits and curb the number of applications in blockchain, NFT and other blockchain-related technologies.

In order to comply with App Store's guidelines on NFT, many enterprises have to launch "simplified version" applications.

The report cited Axie Infinity as an example, saying that the company had spent two years in talks with Apple in the hope that its app would be available on App Store. However, the discussion process was not smooth, and the company had no choice but to spin off the NFT mechanism and put a scaled-down version on App Store.

The letter also pointed out that some people believe that "Apple uses the App Store as a weapon against competitors."
