CTOnews.com August 3 news, the Korean Superconducting Society announced the establishment of the "LK-99 Certification Committee" on August 2, saying that in the case of great disputes at home and abroad, the committee will be responsible for verifying the authenticity of the results.

CTOnews.com noted that the society posted a notice on its website saying, "We have set up a room temperature superconductor verification committee to scientifically assess the current situation and draw clear conclusions."

Earlier, researchers such as the Korea Quantum Energy Research Center published a paper on the material "LK-99" on the preprint website "arXiv", claiming that the material showed superconductivity at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. However, this paper has not been academically verified. This triggered a debate in the academic community, and some researchers gave their own verification results, but the overall results were confusing.

The institute explained that it initially planned to observe the verification results of domestic and foreign research institutions through normal channels. However, due to the controversy over the authenticity of the results over the past few days and the emergence of statements from other unverified peer researchers, they decided to set up a verification committee. The chairman of the verification committee is Kim Chang-young, associate dean of the Institute of basic Sciences for strongly correlated Electronic Systems and professor at Seoul National University.

According to the current discussions of the verification committee, they believe that the data presented in the two papers and public videos do not support the claim that LK-99 is a room temperature superconductor. To this end, the verification committee asked the Quantum Energy Research Center to submit LK-99 samples for verification measurements of room temperature superconductors. The verification process involved researchers from Seoul National University, Sung Kyunkwan University and POSCO University of Science and Technology, and the Society also mentioned that, in addition to the verification committee, the Center for Quantum Materials and superconductivity at Seung Kwan University, the Superconducting Materials and applications Laboratory of Koryo University, and the New State Research Center for complex Materials of Seoul National University are also conducting research on the reproduction of LK-99.
